Digital and gender challenges top the agenda for AFI’s Latin American & the Caribbean members

Promoting digital financial services and women’s financial inclusion will be priorities for AFI’s Latin American & the Caribbean members in the year ahead.

“When discussing our work program and activities, digital financial inclusion emerged as a priority,” said John Rolle, Governor of the Central Bank of The Bahamas, and Chair of AFI’s Financial Inclusion Initiative for Latin America and the Caribbean (FILAC). “That includes tackling issues around financial education, encouraging the adoption of digital products and services, and cyber security challenges”.

“Gender is also a big issue. Within FILAC, we want to advance efforts to help females obtain leadership positions within regulatory agencies, and promote more gender-inclusive outcomes across the financial services sector. We’ll also focus on learning about how to approach the gender issue in terms of access to financial products, particularly for credit.”
