JOB PURPOSE
The Policy Analyst of Policy Programs & Implementation will be primarily responsible for day-to-day programmatic and administrative support on all activities undertaken by the Policy Programs & Implementation (PPI) department. The incumbent will be relied upon as a trusted resource for the team to undertake research, analyze data, review documents, distill volumes of information into key insights and effectively communicate key findings. Additionally, the incumbent will have a good grasp of financial inclusion policy issues, economics literature, legal precedent, and ideally industry developments pertaining to financial inclusion.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct policy analysis, including assessing issues and trends on financial inclusion, emerging topics to address the challenges for financial inclusion, research works and analysis on various policy areas undertaken globally to address the issues of financial exclusion from developing, emerging, and developed countries.
  • Provide event support such as generating input to the conceptualization of AFI’s Working Group events and thematic conferences and leading the end-to-end organization and administration of Working Groups and AFI’s annual Global Policy Forum (GPF) flagship event. The support includes developing presentations, coordinating online meetings, recording discussions, and disseminating information pertaining to the events.
  • Deliver management and administrative support on Working Groups membership with regional counterparts and the PMO & Membership Engagement department, which include monitoring activities (development of knowledge products, webinars, and conferences) of the Working Groups and donor commitments. The support requires collaboration with the Monitoring & Evaluation and Finance departments as well as respective project managers of the donor commitments.
  • Extend communication support through collaboration with the Events and Communications & Media Relations departments on the promotion and advocacy of activities via news, blogs, e-newsletters, etc. under the PPI department.
  • Administer knowledge development through drafting of financial inclusion policy presentations, meeting minutes, briefs, reports, and conference materials.
  • Act as the focal or main point of reference and contact for the PPI department with other departments within AFI.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Head of Policy Management.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Master’s degree in Economics, International Development, Laws, or other relevant fields. However, candidates with bachelor’s degree and more than 3 years of relevant professional experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional experience working in financial inclusion policy or related field, preferably within an international organization.

COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

  • Good command of English with professional proficiency of French or Spanish would be a definite asset.
