Banco Central do Brasil, Banco de Portugal and AFI have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on implementing capacity building programs that promote financial inclusion and financial education in Portuguese-speaking countries as an additional activity to AFI’s main work streams.
The MoU was signed by high-level representatives from AFI, Banco de Portugal and AFI member institutions from Portuguese speaking countries. The ceremony took place in Lisbon, Portugal during the 3rd Workshop on Financial Inclusion and Education for Central Banks of Portuguese-speaking countries.
Commenting on the MoU, Dr Hannig said “AFI welcomes the formalisation of our cooperation with Banco de Portugal. This MoU is an important milestone for our network, as it is the first time we are entering a formal relationship with an advanced economy regulator. We would like to express our thanks to Banco Central do Brasil for their important role in realising this partnership”.
In line with the AFI cooperation model built around knowledge exchange and peer learning, the established cooperation aims to identify and disseminate successful international practices in the development of public policies and initiatives for financial inclusion and education.
