Heartfelt congratulations to AFI member, the Royal Monetary Authority (RMA) of Bhutan, and its leader, Governor Dasho Penjore for being awarded the prestigious Order of Druk Thuksey by His Majesty The King of Bhutan.
An active member of the AFI network since 28 October, 2010, RMA has been instrumental in advancing financial inclusion for the country including formulating its National Financial Inclusion Policy in 2014 and conducting a demand-side and supply-side survey to guide policy intervention.
Governor Dasho Penjore introduced the Minimum Lending Rate that resulted in lowering of interest rates for loans from financial institutions. He also initiated the Priority Sector Lending Guidelines as a result of the vision and inspiration from His Majesty to improve access to finance for youth and farmers in entrepreneurship and commercial farming. The Priority Sector Lending guidelines were recently launched by RMA.
The Druk Thuksey award is also a recognition of RMA as an institution and its contribution towards improving financial services in the country including RMA’s efforts in addressing youth unemployment and helping the rural populations, as well as for working closely and collaboratively with the Government, and coordinating national efforts on financial inclusion and education.
Awarded by His Majesty The King of Bhutan, the Order of Druk Thuksey recognizes people that are contributing in a variety of ways to the socio-economic, religious, and political development and growth of Bhutan.
