Despite the challenges faced, AFI members reported a total of 137 policy and regulatory changes in 73 countries in 2020. These policy changes include COVID-19 policy responses in addition to the thematic areas that members continued to prioritize in order to address their in-country financial inclusion challenges.

The 2020 AFI Annual Report was approved by the AFI Board of Directors on 10 June 2021 and presented to the AFI Membership Council at the AFI Annual General Meeting on 8 September 2021.
