On 16 February, the leaders of AFI’s Working Groups met virtually to explore progress during 2025, and to discuss how to implement the 2026-2028 Working Group Strategy.
Serving as communities of practice on major financial inclusion issues, the Working Groups are AFI’s primary mechanism for generating and hosting knowledge within the network. The 2026-2028 Strategy sets out to enhance their value and impact for members by:
- Strengthening Working Group architecture
- Enhancing their ability to generate high-quality insight
- Building policy implementation & capacity building potential
- Strengthening data & insight generation, as well as impact measurement
- Improving WG leadership, governance & coordination
“The aim is to ensure that Working Groups generate ever-greater engagement, material policy discussions, and effective peer learning,” said AFI Director of Policy Programs and Implementation, Dr Eliki Boletawa.”Having now aligned ourselves on the strategic priorities, the next step will be implementation, translating them into work plans and deliverables.”
