AFI Working Groups are a key source of policy development and trends in financial inclusion and serve as “communities of practice” on major financial inclusion issues. They are the primary mechanism for generating and hosting knowledge within the AFI network and provide a platform for knowledge exchanges and peer learning that allow policymakers to share, deliberate and deepen their knowledge and understanding of key financial inclusion issues.
Working Groups underpin AFI’s vital work in financial inclusion. Each provides a unique peer-to-peer learning platform for members to develop and explore the challenges and successes of their specific but interlocking policy areas.

Since the first meeting was held in 2010, working groups have grown rapidly in size and number. As of March 2020, 111 member institutions from developing and emerging countries participate in working groups.
They represent the leaders of financial inclusion policy and, together, have passed over 537 policy changes in their respective jurisdictions.

What is WG-CONNECT?
WG-CONNECT is a voluntary, light-touch engagement Alumni program for former AFI Working Group members who wish to stay connected to the AFI network and the broader financial inclusion community.
Who can join WG-CONNECT?
Former AFI Working Group members who no longer serve as an active Working Group representative of an AFI member institution.
How WG-CONNECT Members contribute
1. Guest speaking
Contribute as a guest speaker or discussant at select AFI events, webinars, and knowledge dialogues.
2. Mentoring
Support mentoring exchanges with current Working Group participants, where relevant.
3. Knowledge sharing
Share experiences through occasional reflection pieces, interviews, or knowledge-sharing discussions.
4. Peer learning
Participate in peer learning discussions and policy roundtables focused on financial inclusion.

1. Public Recognition across AFI knowledge platforms and publications.
2. Event Acknowledgement at selected AFI events, including Working
Group meetings and the Global Policy Forum.
3. Alumni Certificate or digital acknowledgment.

2. The AFI Management Unit will review your application and confirm your registration
3. Successful applicants will be added to the Alumni Network and invited to upcoming engagement opportunities
