On 17 March, an AFI Public-Private Dialogue event brought 72 participants from 23 AFI member institutions together with experts from Mastercard, to discuss best practices in cybersecurity information sharing.
The session explored the evolving threat landscape, looking at how digitization, geopolitical tensions, and AI are driving increased cyber threats. Mastercard speakers presented their current initiatives in cyber intelligence collaboration and information sharing, covering threat-intelligence mechanisms, information sharing tools, and tools to rapidly detect and report vulnerabilities.
“No single institution, country, or sector can tackle cyber threats in isolation,” said Jacqueline De Lange, Regional Security Manager for MasterCard Africa. “Our resilience depends on information sharing, on trusted partnerships, and our ability to transform intelligence into action.”
The meeting built on AFI’s recent in-person cyber information-sharing workshop, co-hosted with Banco de Moçambique, and the launch of AFI’s African cybersecurity information sharing initiative, which is being supported by the German Development Ministry, BMZ.
