On 4 June, AFI participated in the 2026 WFE Sustainability Conference, organized by the World Federation of Exchanges in Luxembourg. The conference brought together stakeholders from across the financial sector to exchange perspectives on sustainability, sustainable finance, and the role of financial institutions in supporting the transition to a more resilient future.
During the event, AFI’s Director of ERO, Donor Relations & Global Partnerships, Ilya Sverdlov, shared insights on how AFI’s Inclusive Green Finance workstream supports policymakers in developing approaches that help strengthen climate resilience and promote sustainable finance. He also stressed the important role played by Luxembourg, a pioneer in sustainable finance, and home to AFI’s European Representative Office:
“AFI serves as a bridge between Europe’s innovative financial ecosystems and developing-world policymakers. This two-way exchange enables a valuable exchange of insight which advances common goals. Luxembourg’s leadership in sustainable investment and financial innovation makes it a natural hub for connecting global policy perspectives, and for fostering impactful collaboration.”
In November 2025, AFI and the Ministry of Finance of Luxembourg hosted a Global Dialogue on Women’s Leadership and Gender Inclusive Finance, the first in a series of Euro-Global Inclusive Policy Dialogues which allow AFI member institutions to exchange financial inclusion knowledge, innovation, and policy experience with European stakeholders.
