Despite its significance to economic stability and inclusive financial sector development, there is no single standards-setting body for financial consumer protection.
A policy model driven by member examples in different jurisdictions is therefore a timely and necessary development.
This Consumer Empowerment & Market Conduct Policy Model draws on AFI members’ experiences and peer learning to provide practical, flexible guidance for strengthening consumer empowerment, market conduct and consumer protection. It sets out six pillars covering governance, market conduct, supervision, consumer capability, complaints redressal and cross-cutting themes.
