The 5th meeting of AFI‘s Mobile Financial Services Working Group (MFSWG) took place in Moscow from 11-13 April 2012.

During the meeting, lively discussions took place on organizational and strategic issues, as well as the MFSWG work plan for the lead-up to the 2012 Global Policy Form.  After deliberation, members finalized four new MFSWG Guideline Notes: Regulatory Reporting; Supervision and Oversight of MFS; MFS Technology Risks; MFS Basic Terminology. 

The MFSWG Guideline Notes will be published and distributed through various communication channels such as the AFI Member Zone in the coming weeks.

Two further outputs, an inventory of MFS products and an MFS risk matrix, will also be finalized and presented at the forthcoming Global Policy Forum in South Africa, set to take place in September 2012.

The meeting also saw the debut of three new priority topics namely; consumer protection, MFS data and measurement, and cross-border remittances.
