On 1 May 2026, the National Bank of Tajikistan organized a Financial Literacy Festival in Dushanbe to increase public awareness of financial services and products, and to promote responsible financial behavior. More than 7,000 people participated, including school pupils, students, teachers, women entrepreneurs, artisans, and persons with disabilities.
Speaking at the Festival, the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, Firdavs Tolibzoda, highlighted the importance of financial literacy for strengthening public trust in the banking sector, improving financial resilience and supporting the sustainable development of the national financial system.
The Festival also featured an award ceremony recognizing financial institutions which support women-led businesses, and presentations on issues including access to finance for regional entrepreneurs, green finance and sustainable lending, and how to stay safe from frauds and scams.
At an open-air exhibition in a city park, 33 financial institutions and 11 insurance companies presented their products and services, answering questions about banking, digital payments, savings, insurance and financial planning.

Financial literacy quizzes targeting both adults and children were organized throughout the day. Topics included household budgeting, fraud prevention, savings, responsible borrowing, payment card usage, national currency awareness and the role of the central bank.
The festival received extensive coverage through national media, television and radio, and generated more than 1.2 million views across social media and online platforms.
